Angela Merkert’s professional background includes tenure as a university professor in education; leadership and organizational development in the corporate world; and executive director roles in nonprofit organizations for 15 years. Throughout her career, her passion has focused on enacting change that strengthens our democracy through social and economic justice; affirming dignity and respect for every person; and increasing access to and engagement with, quality education for children, especially early childhood programs.

Melissa Pickett is a former banker, organizational development consultant, health and wellness advocate.  As a native New Mexican, she has a long view of the challenges we face and sees the potential for our State.

After a career in organizational consulting, Elaine Sullivan came to public banking as a volunteer advocate for social and economic justice.  Keeping our public dollars local, circulating in our communities in support of small businesses, infrastructure, clean energy, education and other New Mexico priorities, rather than our public dollars going to Wall Street, is a critical path to achieving that justice for all New Mexicans.

A Public Bank for New Mexico will support infrastructure, agricultural, social and economic initiatives and contributes to a livable, resilient economy.  Our taxes and fees, deposited in our public bank, can then be invested by professional bankers, in partnership with community banks and credit unions, to support our local priorities.  The mission of a public bank is to take back our money from Wall Street and do good things here at home for all our residents.
