The Santa Fe City Council approved a resolution to move forward on a study of the long-term benefits of a public bank for the City of Santa Fe. The resolution was sponsored by Mayor Javier Gonzales and Councilors Peter Ives and Joe Maestas. They were joined by Councilors Patti Bushee and Carmichael Dominguez, who asked to be added to the list of sponsors at this meeting .
Five teams submitted responses to the Request for Qualifications. On October 23, three teams were selected to come to Santa Fe for personal interviews. The interview phase will be completed by November 14. After that, the team to do the study will be selected. After City Councilors approve the team selection, the contract will be signed. Once signed, the team has 90 days to complete the contract requirements. City of Santa Fe staff will finalize the report.
Banking on New Mexico is deeply appreciative of all who came to the City Council meeting to show their support for a public bank in Santa Fe. We especially thank our supporters who traveled from Albuquerque to be at the meeting.
